SCAN YOUR DRIVE
Every now and then you should check your hard drive for errors and bad sectors. In Windows XP you can find this utility by following these steps:
- Click Start
- Click My Computer
- Right click on your hard drive (usually C:) select Properties
- Select the Tools tab
- Click Check Now
- Check both boxes Automatically fix file system errors , Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
- Hit Start
