CLEARING PRIVATE DATA
Your computer saves a great deal of personal information as you surf the web, do taxes, write reports and edit files. This information in the wrong hands could lead to identity theft and financial loss, so take a few steps to prevent this from happening.
- Clean up old temporary files
- Delete the Internet cache by following these steps
In Firefox
- Select Tools
- Then Clear Private Data
- Check the Boxes you wish to Erase

Windows Explorer 7
- Select Tools
- Then Internet Options
- Under the Browsing History select Delete
- Click the fields you wish to erase

Other ways to Protect your Private data from falling into the wrong hands is to use a Firewall - ZoneAlarm Free Firewall. If you are planning to give away or sell your old computer then completely erase all the information with a special program that writes garbage data over the entire contents of the disk (KILLDISK), a standard format of the drive will not delete the information and it could be retrieved if desired even by an amateur.
