MAKE A BACK-UP

  What do you mean my hard drive is dead? - If you cant imagine what it would be like to say those words then a backup is necessary. A standard hard drive only lasts an average 3-5 years and can fail at anytime.

  There are two types of back up :

1. Full backup- An entire drive is imaged onto another media. I suggest this for anyone on a dialup connection as a full reinstall of all software and updates would be VERY time consuming. Massive external drives are very cheap and make backups easy.
2. Partial backup- Only your important files are backed up.
• Pictures
• My documents
• IE favorites or Firefox bookmarks
• Game saves
• Music
• Anything else you feel is important

 Data recovery from a physically broken drive will cost hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the size of the disk and the severity of the destruction. Imagine losing your childs first birthday photo and how much you'd pay to get it back.
